- Funeral is Wednesday for Ardith May Jones, 76, of 4304 Logan County Road 31, Atwood. She died Monday at Devonshire Acres. Rev. Donald Forbes of Faith United Methodist Church is offici ating for the 10 a.m. service at his church, to which Mrs. Jones be longed.
Burial is at Riverside Cemetery. Visitation is until 8 p.m. today. Mrs. Jones was born Aug. 31, 1915, in Willard to James and Alta May (Gaines) Lewis. She was raised and educated in Willard.
Mrs. Jones then attended the University of Northern Colorado in Greeley for four years. On June 6, 1937, she married Justin Jones in Willard.
After their marriage, they moved to Atwood and had lived there since. She taught school for 28 years first at Atwood Grade School and then at Hagen Elementary from 1964 to 1977.
Mrs. Jones was a member of the Elbridge Gerry Chapter of the National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution, Alpha Delta Kappa, which is an honorary teacher's society, and Eastern Star. She had been a member of Atwood Methodist Church.
Survivors include her husband, of Atwood; three daughters, Jeanette Cope of Louisville, Virginia Walter of Brush and Patricia Luss of Miami, Fla.; a sister, Maxine Lane of Sterling; nine grand children and nine great-grandchildren.
Chancy-Walters Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
