Text | Henry Wanner SNYDER and Annie Elizabeth CANN are in our database. While browsing RootsWeb, I came across your entry for these people. I looked at your site, and a very intresting site it is, but I did not find Henry and Annie listed. The SCHNEIDERs, SNYDERs, SNIDERs, came to Canada from Pennsylvania and settled in the Waterloo County area of what later became Ontario. My paternal great grandfather, John C. ALBERT married Magdalena SNYDER in 1872. ----------------------------------- John C. ALBERT had been christened Hans Friedrich ALBERT. He was the first born and was probably named after his mother's father, Hans Friedrich CARSTENS. Apparently the name John C. ALBERT had been adopted when they emigrated to Canada. The 'C', of course, referred to his mother's maiden ame, CARSTENS. I have never seen any other name or letter used. The reference to 'Denmark' comes from the death record for Anna (ALBERT) CLEMENS, one of John's daughters. The information on the record had been supplied by her son, Eli W. CLEMENS. At various times Denmark, or a Danish count, ruled parts, or all, of Schleswig-Holstein but I don't know whether that applied to Embühren in 1846 or not. S-H has had a very complex history When grandfather Albert married Rachel, on the marriage record he professed no religion. They had been married at the Lutheran church in Preston. | |
