- Juliana Kristina Andersdotter Norin was born November 29, 1852 in Skansån, Hassela, Gavleborg, Sweden to Anders Jönsson Norin and Karin Kristoffersdotter Norberg. She was baptized on December 5, 1852 in Hassela . On July 7, 1868 at the age of 15 she immigrated to North America along with her parents and her sister Helena. They arrived in Center City, Chisago County, Minnesota. At that time, Center City was known as Swede Lake. In America she took the name of Julia Norin. She lived with her parents near Blomford in Isanti County for a while.
Julia Norin married Charles B. Oswell on May 1, 1871 at the age of 18 in St Paul, Minnesota. They lived in Bethel and Isanti before moving to Carlton County, Minnesota in 1900. Julia and Charles had eight children over a 23-year period. Julia Oswell died on June 29, 1914 when she was 61 years old. They were married for 43 years. She is buried in the Atkinson Community Cemetery in Carlton County, Minnesota alongside her husband. Not sure why the gravestone shows her buried by Carl B. Oswell, unless her husband also went by the name of Carl.
