- HERTER, Berneice Marilyn 1923 - 2015 Born March 16, 1923 in Breslau, Ontario, Berneice passed away at Pinehaven Nursing Home, Waterloo on Tuesday, May 26, 2015, at the age of 92 years. Beloved wife of Jack who predeceased her on June 19, 2005. Loving mother of Brenda and her husband Paul Mennie of Kitchener, Joyce and her husband Kerry McCann of Mountain, Ontario, Douglas and his wife Lois of Alma and Wayne and his wife Barb of Port Dover. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Craig and his wife Chrissy McCann, Jeremy McCann, Dale, Susan, Josh Herter; step-grandchildren, Megan and her husband Blair Winch, Erin and her husband Chris Savard, Courtney and her husband Andrew Campbell and Colin Amos. Great-grandchildren, Marsedys, Mavin and Vinny McCann, Dakota McCann/ O'Neill, Campbell, Molly, Graham and Callum Savard, Owen and Grace Amos, Carley Winch and Mackinley Campbell. She is also survived by her sister Beryl Clemmer, sister-in-law Ruth Rudy of Kitchener, as well as several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brother Ken, brothers-in-law Karl Clemmer, Howard (Hope) Herter, Robert (Betty) Herter, sister-in-law Gladys (Morris) Huenemoeder, and nephew Ron Herter. Berneice was employed by McBrine Luggage in her early days, then became homemaker to her four children, served on the executive of Lexington Women's Institute and later a member of Durham Women's Institute, was a member of the German Folklore Society. After the children were in school, she worked part time at Zellers and Reitzel Brothers, where she won an Employee Service Public Recognition Award. Jack and Berneice purchased a farm property north of Durham, and built a log home in 1985. Berneice was a CNIB advocate after she was diagnosed with Macular Degeneration in 1997. She was a charter member of Christ Lutheran Church in Waterloo and maintained a connection to St. James Lutheran Church in Williamsford, Ontario. Friends are invited to share their memories of Berneice with her family at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo on Friday, May 29, 2015 from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Berneice's life will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Sheilah Fletch officiating. Following the service, a reception will be held in the Fireside Room of the funeral home. A private family interment will take place at Memory Gardens Cemetery, Breslau.
