- WOOLNER, Robert Lloyd 1946 - 2012 Passed away in Toronto on Friday, November 23, 2012. Beloved husband of Dale, father of Andrew (Kumiko Aragaki) of Yokohama, Japan, and Emily LaLonde (Jeremy), grandfather of Ephraim and Annie. Robert will also be missed by his sister Mary Ann Ropp (Norm), nephew Darren Ropp (Misty), and sisters-in-law Fern Splichal (Stan) and Tannis Maag (Urs). He was a dutiful son to the late Lloyd Woolner and Edith Cressman. Born in Kitchener in 1946, Robert attended a one room public school and went on to graduate from Wilfred Laurier University with an alumni gold medal in 1970. He graduated from the University of Toronto Law School in 1973 and was called to the Ontario Bar in 1975, with honours. Robert went on to establish his own legal practice in Toronto and practice law there until his passing. Robert was also very involved in volunteering on many community boards and agencies. The accomplishment in which he took the most pride, along with Dale, was the preservation of the Woolner heritage farm "Ashgrove" in the east end of Kitchener, saving it from the quickly encroaching development of the area. A memorial gathering will be held at Robert's beloved Ashgrove on Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the archives at Conrad Grebel University College or the Toronto East General Hospital Foundation.
