"John Eaton, Born 1773 Died 1837 His Wife Catharine Vanduzen, Born 1786, Died 1874

"John Eaton settled in Burford, l796; Saltfleet, 1809; Carlisle, 1826

"Records directly connect him with Francis Eaton who landed at Plymouth, Mass., on the Mayflower, 1620. He served in the Battle of Stoney Creek, 1813. Many of his descendants served in the Great War, 1914-1918. He. founded. the. Methodist church, Carlisle. Was local preacher.

"His wife Catharine, a cousin of Laura Second, helped build the First Carlisle Methodist church, 1852.

"Hundreds of relatives gathered here, July 17, 1926, to honor their memories, and praise God for His providence."
