James Calder was born about 1753 in Daviesdykes, Cambusnethan, Lanarkshire, Scotland. He was the father of John Calder, born April 11, 1779, whose mother was Ann Neilson. Ann was born about 1757 in Daviesdykes.
James was also the father of Thomas Calder born February 11, 1779, whose mother was Isobel Wiseman. Both Thomas and John were baptized on April 23, 1780 at Cambusnethan, Lanarkshire, Scotland.
It is presumed that this is the same James Calder who married Elizabeth Neilson on August 28, 1789.
James died December 1, 1814 in Daviesdykes.
