- Lona Marie Sherwin, 42, was claimed by death here Wednesday morning following a prolonged illness. Mrs. Sherwin was the wife of Paul R. Sherwin and had been a resident of Converse County since 1937. Mrs. Sherwin attended elementary schools at Padrona, Colorado and took her college work at Kearney, Nebraksa. She taught school for some time and was later associated with the state Soil Conservation Service. The couple was married at Padrona where Mr. Sherwin's father was a rancher. They moved to their own ranch in Wyoming in 1937. The ranch property lies in three counties, Converse, Niobrara and Weston. The family resided on the ranch until 1950 when they built a home in Douglas and have lived here since. In addition to her husband Paul, Mrs. Sherwin is survived by four children, Mary Ellen, Paula, Peggy and Leonard. Her mother, Mrs. John Fowler, lives in Akron, Colorado. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Alta Harris of Los Angeles and Mrs. Delores Fornoff of Denver; and one brother, Melbourne J. Fowler.
