Eaton Family Sets Example for Dominion
W. O. Sealey Estimates Descendants as Over 6,000
Far Above Average
In Same Ratio, Canada's Population Would Exceed 100 Million
W. O. Sealey, ex M.P., prominent citizen of this city and lineal descendant
of John Eaton, has interesting facts to contribute following the mammoth
gathering of the Eaton-Vanduzen descendants at Carlisle Saturday.
He had it figured out that of the two marriages, John Eaton to Catherine
Vanduzen and Daniel Eaton to Mary Ann Scovener there are 6300 descendant.
Of these 820 are dead. That leaves 5480. By this ratio, if the whole of
Canada had multiplied as rapidly, there would be 125,000,000 in the country
today exclusive of the dead, which would mean a subtraction of roughly
15 millions from 125 millions, leaving a balance of 115 millions still
above earth.
Letters of Regret
Letters and telegrams of regret and well wishes were received and read

Anderson, Quibble[?], Ontario; Major W. F. Eaton, Oakville, Ont.; A. P.
Ross, Toronto; James Eaton-Dawson, Chico, Cal.; James Edward Eaton, Chicago;
William F. Eaton, Philadelphia (discovered by radio); Duncan Murray, Vancouver,
B.C.; Norman D. Ford, Toronto; Hazel McPherson, Toronto, and many others.
90 Years Old
It was a first thought that Mrs. Washburn, who gave the three-minute
speech, was the oldest person on the grounds, but it was later discovered
that Mrs. Francis Bogie, Strabana, who was induced to make a few remarks,
was the most aged being, 90. Mrs. Washington Campbell, 84, from Kilbane,
was also present. Tremendous applause broke out when Mrs. Washburn, 85,
went to the platform with the two youngest on the grounds in her arms,
three and five months old respectively.
The prize for the largest family on the grounds was awarded to Charlie
and Mrs. Galloway who were mar- ......[end of clipping]
