Eaton Reunion, 1926
Toronto Daily Star
July 19, 1926
All Were Registered
Arrangements had been made also for the registration all the descendants
of Daniel Eaton, senior, who was a brother at the first Canadian John
Eaton. His descendants in considerable number had come from around Burford
and Princeton, and were referred to as the Burford-Princeton Eatons. The
book for the Vanduzen family also contained several names, though it was
noticeable that in a number of instances the spelling used was Vanduzer.
After luncheon Mr. Sealey called the gathering to order and the program
opened with the singing of Old Hundred and a prayer by Rev. Herman E Walker,
pastor of the Carlisle United church. Musical numbers and brief addresses
followed, with some of the oldest of the family giving word pictures of
the persons and conditions of the earlier generations.
Mrs. Louisa Washburn (nee Louisa Eaton) was the oldest member of the
family present. She is 85 years of age and had journeyed from he home
in Hespeler for the picnic. At the finish of a little address she was
presented with a lovely basket of roses.
Mr. Wellington Morden, ex-mayor of Hamilton, who is now
89 years of age, recalled, the members of the second generation of the
Eaton family as he remembered them from the days of his early manhood
when he lived in that district.
