Splendid War Record
Other well known members of the Eaton family are: Case
Eaton, who was a surveyor in the northwest, sent there by Sir John A.
Macdonald's government about 50 years ago. Another Eaton donated the land
between Paris and Princeton on which now stands the Eatonia church. Allen
Eaton, now living in Carlisle, was one who lost his fortune when as a
director of the ill-fated Home Bank he paid his double liability.
The officers of the Eaton Family association are: President, John Tudor
Eaton, oldest living grandson of the original John; vice-president Ambrose
Eaton, with John, pillars of the church at Carlisle.; manager, Clarke
Thompson Eaton; secretaries, Florence Eaton and W. O. Sealey.
On the picnic day, the committee intends to have a purple ribbon tied
around every Eaton monument, headstone or marker, in the cemetery, at
Carlisle, and if practical, a narrow ribbon, from one to another chaining
up the whole family.
The war record of the Eaton family, as far as it can be collected,
includes service by Dr. Murray Eaton, Dr. Archie Eaton, Miss Margaret
Eaton, Harold Eaton, Ruby Eaton-Galloway, Mrs. Evelyn Eaton-Galloway-Richards,
W. O. and Mrs. Sealey, Mrs. Agnes Forbes Sealey, Faucett Eaton, Edward
L. R. Eaton killed in action; Andrew J. Eaton and Irvin D. Panabaker.
