Eaton Reunion, 1926
Hamilton Spectator
July 15, 1926
2,622 Descendants
John Eaton died in 1837, and his wife followed him in 1874.
Anson, the eldest son, fell heir to the farm, and he divided it equally
among his brothers. He went to Waterloo county, where he married Lornhama
Sutton, and engaged in farming. They had eleven children, and in the total
number of their descendants is 275, of whom 38 are dead, and all 237 are
still living, nearly all in Canada.
Just how numerous are the descendants of John Eaton is not on record.
Daniel Eaton, the second son, had nine children, and his descendants number
265. Taking the rat established by Anson and Daniel as average, some estimate
of the total number of Eatons can be made. Levineys, the third son, had
seven children and his descendants would therefore be 189. John, the fourth
son had 13 children and 351 descendants. Enoch Eaton, with ten children,
would have 270. Wesley had eleven children and 297 descendants. Sally
seven children and 189 descendants. Seymour, Horace and Eliza would all
have about 262. The grand total at this rate works out to be 2,622.
The home itself passed to Enoch Eaton, and then to Ambrose Eaton, his
son, who still lives close by. Now Faucett Eaton, the great grandson,
is in control. The real monarchs, however, of the old historical farm
are his two children, Dora, aged two, and John, aged three, who roam about
at will. Oblivious to their ancient ancestry, their greatest interest
in life is in the avoidance of stones that might injure their pink little
feet as they run barefooted through the fields.
