Henry Key

Born in England - was christened on Nov. 15, 1840 in Dean England to George Key and Barbara Banks.

He had four brothers, William, John, Robert and George. The family moved to Canada in 1844. They brought with them three pieces of furniture that we have seen, the old corner cupboard that we had on Waterloo St., a settee that Aunt Lou had and a grandfather clock that went to California with George Key.

A story is known about the clock because George Key died before his wife Margaret and she passed it on to her side of the family. The Keys felt it should have stayed in the Key family.

The Henry Key family settled in the village of Scotland near Oakland. The four brothers moved to California. Henry Key married Julia Reynolds. They had eight children - two died as infants and the six remaining were Alton, Nettie, Carl, Orton, Margaret, and Louise.
