Craigvale
History of Craigvale and Stroud
More Modern Times
The Township of Innisfil celebrated the 100 Anniversary of its organization
(1841-1951). In that time, in this locality, many profound changes have
taken place, as profound and significant as any that have taken place
anywhere in the world.
By 1962, Stroud had a seven hundred population and the International
Brick and Rolling Pin Throwing Contest attracted 2000 visitors to the
village. The contest was organized in 1961, between Stroud in Innisfil,
Stroud in England, Stroud in Australia, and Stroud, U.S.A.
Turn right from Highway 11, onto Victoria Street East. The only indication
left of Craigvale is a sign on a post, Craigvale Lane, running beside
track.
This section contains material collected by Jeanne Groce about the history
of Stroud and Craigvale. It contains "information collected from libraries,
books, newspapers, the Centennial History of Innisfil, Historical Revue,
word of mouth, and anywhere else I could find it." Reference to the source
of the material is given where possible.
